Throughout the quarantine, we’ve stayed home to help flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19. After more than a month, though, we’re ready for an escape—even if it’s just to another room. Here, we’re offering tips for creating a safe and comfortable sanctuary so that you can take a break when you need to without going anywhere.

Go to the Light

Find a space that offers some mood-enhancing natural light, even if it’s just a small window.

Take a Seat

Plush chairs, beanbags, or even oversized throw pillows create a snuggly seat for you to settle in on.

Go to the Table

A small side table or stool next to your seat can hold a cup of soothing tea or the book you’re working to finish. Need guidance to pick the right light? We’ve got some here.

Make It Pretty

Take care to create a space that speaks to you: Try small tablecloths of pashminas over the table, rugs, plants or flowers.

Cuddle Up

Leave a cozy, fluffy blanket in your sanctuary so that you never have to go in search of one when you’re chilly.

Set the Mood

Scented candles and music can help you relax, so keep a speaker and a candle with your favorite sent stationed on your table. (Make sure to not leave candles burning unattended, and away from any curtains or hanging fabric). Need help picking a scent? Here’s our guide.
