Reclaim Your Space

You’re spending a lot of time in your home during quarantine, and so you may be feeling like you’re in need of a change. One way to feel good about it again? Declutter and organize. Here’s a starter guide.

  • Start small.  Don’t look at your entire space, instead focus on a small area like a closet or small room.

  • Create three groupings—what you’ll keep, what you’ll throw away, and what you’ll donate. (Remember, you’ll need to store donations until after the quarantine ends).

  • Before you begin, invest in items like shelf risers, drawer organizers, and clear boxes to make more space in closets.

  • In bedrooms, consider storage solutions in furniture, like benches that double as toy boxes.

  • Try a “lazy Susan” or spinning shelf in closets to make it easy to find what you need.

  • Use magnetic strips inside of closet doors to hold any items that will stick.

  • Store shoes heel-to-toe to maximize space.

  • Use pipe cleaners or rubber bands on hangers to keep sweaters and shirts from slipping.

  • Hang shower hooks from a bar in your closet to easily hang purses and bags.
