We love the autumn for its beautiful, bursting colors and the weather we wait all year for. This year, we’re taking advantage of this sweet, short season with a road trip to take in all its beauty. Before we hit the road, we’re packing up a few essentials. Here’s our list.

Snacks

Aside from gas in the car, there’s nothing more important for a road trip than snacks. Make sure to stock up on munchies for each passenger. We recommend both savory, because you know, you don’t want to have to stop again… Pro tip: Pack a plastic bag to stow garbage as you go.

Blankets

Even if the weather is warm, you’ll still want to pack some extra blankets. If your travels take you outside during daytime hours, you can use them as seating for an impromptu picnic at a scenic lookout. If you’re driving at night, pull over to an open field and lay them out for some sweet stargazing.

Lounge-Ready Gear

Get extra cozy in clothes that travel well: Think fluffy fleece, soft Sherpa, and classic hoodies. After a few long hours on the road, you’ll be glad you’re wearing clothes that can keep you comfortable for the long haul.

Pillows

When you’re road tripping, comfort is key. Bring a few pillows along so you can grab a quick cat nap in between driving shifts.

Sunglasses

Those gorgeous colors are a sight, but autumn’s golden sun can be tough on your eyes. Make sure to bring along sunglasses to wear when you’re driving towards those gorgeous sunsets.

Travel Mug + Water Bottle

Coffee is a must when you’re on driver duty, so reduce waste and keep your café warmer longer with a reusable travel mug. Water is also a must-have, but our pro tip: Keep your bottle to less than 20oz to reduce trips to the rest stops.

Games

Traffic doesn’t have to be a fun-ender. Let passengers get into the competitive spirit with some easy travel games, or even a spirited round of Eye Spy.
